Our presenters Norma Schoenberg and Connie Klick will bring light to the process and experience of enduring a false allegation of abuse or neglect.  Information will be shared about the process required of Child Protective Services (CPS).  This will include standards of CPS and the assessment procedure.  Norma will share from her personal experience of enduring false allegations as a foster and adoptive parent.  She will also bring her knowledge of working with families that have gone through the process of an allegation of abuse or neglect.

 

Connie Klick is the section manager for the Child Welfare and Family Violence programs for Wisconsin’s Department of Children and Families and has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  She has over twenty years of experience in child welfare ranging from child protective services casework to supervision and administration. 

 

Norma Schoenberg has been a foster parent of over 30 years.  She is a board member of the Wisconsin Foster & Adoptive Parent Association and chairs the SAAN project (Surviving Allegations of Abuse & Neglect).  Norma has been involved statewide committees to improve child welfare in the state of Wisconsin and has shared her experiences at several conferences.
